Ties That Bind: Chapter 09
Never one to take a fight lightly Damien ran right at Mariah since he couldn't even leave the ring to confuse her.
This left the only other options to flat out put her down or knock her out of the ring.
He didn't expect her to duck under his first punch.
Nor did he expect her to cartwheel safely right out of the way of his spin kick that he tried when she moved to his side.
Mariah was nimble. He only fought a dozen or so people that he would register as dangerous outside of Ayame since he began fighting on a regular basis, but from sheer reaction alone he'd say that Mariah would have to be added to that list. It must have shown on his face too, because her face oozed confidence when he faced off with her again, "Are you wondering what my style is?"
He actually hadn't been, but sure, why not? So Damien just nodded.
"Avila. Named after my family. You can't really learn it because it's something I developed myself." Mariah pointed to herself, "I'm just better. I don't like handling my own

Of Will and Despair: Chapter 01
"A girl", the man said, sweat dripping off of his plump face as he hastily dabbed a napkin against her forehead.
"It's always a girl", the gypsy said nodding, his black curly hair shaking in disappointment "So she doesn't love you?".
"No. But if she did, her father would oppose our marriage for sure."
"Ah, a double negative." A mocking smile graced the gypsy's scruffy face.
"So I was thinking, maybe some kind of potion."
Taking out a deck of cards the gypsy spoke again "Well, there are potions, there are elixirs. But you should know you can't really force love. Heighten your chances, make you more handsome, but then somebody else might fall in love with you, and you still have pretty good chances of being happy." He finished as he began laying the cards before him.
"No. It's her. It has to be her."
Picking up a card and squinting at it the gypsy spoke again without hesitation "Well, There's always Number Nine."
"What does a number has to do with anything?" The man interrupted.
"No, not

The Grand City of Pandarum, its existence was both feared and respected by many throughout the known world. The pristine walls which surrounds the city to this day continue to provide a daunting defense for any invading force to attend to. While the man made barriers created a excellent defense the natural barriers are more then enough to have any army question it's attack plans. Surrounded by a forest on it's north side and  a gulf to the east Pandarum is nigh impenetrable .
At one point the city was considered the single most powerful city in the world despite it being one of the youngest. This was commonly attributed to the abnormally large level of “Heroes” that this city has produced.

Black Mirror: Chapter 06
A stagnant silence reverberated throughout the room. No one knowing how to react to Kieran's statement. The guards just stared at one another. What could they do? Do they simply try and destroy two of the experiments they've guarded or do they let these things kill them.
Seeing the confusion from her guards Melissa began to act. It was time to reason with the beast  "KC2-R2A." she called from the back of the formation her stern voice sending a shock down Ava's spine. "Please and down, the station is under attack and we don't have time to play your ridiculous games."
As if on cue an explosion rocked the station staggering many of the guards.
"Voi!" Ava raised a brow at  Kieran's sudden outburst. The other brow raised when she saw the predatory grin morphed unto his face "So my siblings have finally returned home. What a glorious day Mother"
Edwin's eyes widened in realization as he quickly turned to Melissa. "Melissa if they're attacking us, we don't stand a chance with the fo

Ties That Bind: Chapter 07
Damien knew Mariah was rich and that her family rich, but he certainly had not been expecting this. It was obviously why she only chose to see him when paying him for his work.
Rumor had it that Mariah's family owned a compound that sat on their own private island. Damien didn't believe that rumor as he felt it was a over exaggerated rumor and no one owned that much land in one specific spot.
Well seeing the 'little' bit of land that Mariah's family gave her to stay while she chose to attend an academy in Helsa, and the absurdly large palace like mansion that sat on it, he was inclined to give those rumors a little bit more weight now.
After parking, Damien quickly jumped out of the car to look at his current surroundings. It was gigantic.
"Well Mr. Fiore, we don't have all day." Apparently Mariah caught him staring at the property. Damien turned towards her and began to follow after her and Anthony as they walked through the large driveway to get to the front doors.
Mariah was a

Clockwork. Turbulent Clockwork creating an ever continuing rhythm
It's all around us. In our guards, in our weapons, in our steamers, and even the Earth itself has that particular rhythm. We are nothing but machines, sustained by our own machines which we've created, everything goes in a cycle, just like a clock. A time bomb that never stops ticking, that is life.
Lifeblood, our hearts are very existence are just ever-beating mechanisms. Our blood is but water, and water makes steam. Steam gives us power, which keeps our blood pumping and pumping.
These thoughts ran through Josmar's head as he was looked within the dank catacombs he was forced into. He was just another cog in the machine. Despite this it didn't stop him from attempting to escape.
He raked his fingernails against his stony prison. Desperation soon gave way to realization once his fingertips gave way to bone.
The little man began to scream. He screamed for the people that were left behind, he screamed for the decisions t

How long had it been since he had ended up in this situation
Three Years....
Becoming bound to a random girl, becoming human, and then being stuck in this place. Damien had little choice but to simply go with it. What else could he do? Damien could actually die now it was better for him to stay stagnant, then travel all willy nilly.
He would have normally gone kicking and screaming, fighting all the way, but two hours of ranting was long enough for Damien to find out just how shit out of luck he happened to be. The world was huge there had to be some way that he can get this mark off of him.
There was definitely a way. There had to be. But he hadn't found it yet. Not in three years, but it wasn't like he could go anywhere to look for it, because travelling required money and he certainly didn’t have that. But if there was a word that defined Damien Fiore, and it certainly wasn't quitter.

Man in the Moon
They were halfway through lump of space rock when the drill head broke.

The force of the snap blasted three workers off their feet, and a rush of broken rocks buried them a second later. They were dead, Tom knew it; their suits would have been crushed like bubble wrap.

The drill's support leaned sideways, teetering awkwardly on two bent legs before falling over. Tom felt the crash even through the insulated soles of his suit absorbed most of the impact. He reached up and thumbed the panel on the side of his helmet, opening an emergency line to mission control.

"Emergency line. Identify Crisis."

"Officer Thomas Kibble," he said clearly and calmly. "Supervising at the Drill site. Reporting drill malfunction."

"Accepted," the flat mechanical voice replied. "Please hold."

Not a moment later, a gruff voice replaced the automated system. Tom recognized the rough, no-nonsense tones of Commander Neil at once. "Kibble. You'd be

And so, the Phoenix set themselves up for residency at the Heart estate, taking a small and unused house for their own. Of course all Heart houses were high-class, so there were few complaints on the choice on either side. Avery continued to play with Eve, glad to have a steady playmate in her.
Victor of course let them play, even in the face of his daughter losing a few precious hours of training. To him, the act was seen as an investment. Avery himself was either oblivious to the father's ulterior motives or he just didn't care. It was most likely the former, for despite Avery's extended stay at the Hearts; he managed to remain spectacularly unaware of certain things.
“Hey Eve …” Avery mumbled one afternoon.
Eve turned from her lessons. “Yes?”
“Um, well…” Avery scratched the back of his head. An act that his friend had quickly discerned as a sign of mild embarrassment.
“It's been botheri

Ties That Bind: Chapter 05
The next morning, Ayame woke up unusually early, earlier than she normally would. Slowly sitting up to stretch and rubbing the dreamer's dust, from her eyes before groggily glancing around the room, her eyes caught the most unfamiliar sight blankets arranged into a makeshift bed. Her dark eyes widened into a look of first shock, then fear, and, finally, realization.
The wheels in her head gradually begin to turn and grind together, as the information from the night before started to process, and the whole thing began to speed up as Ayame's brain came out of 'sleep mode' and stabilized into a state of proper functioning. When she finally reached this state of consciousness she heard and smelled a commotion in the kitchen
"What the Hell!!" She instinctively cried out
Scrambling out of bed, Ayame slammed open the door which led to the rest of her apartment.
Now, Ayame was not a dumb girl her mother made sure of that. She knew it was dumb to rush out into any unknown situation, y

My One True Love.
He laughs at me, and it's entirely contagious.
I struggle to be serious,
But he holds me down and smothers me with little fluttering kisses across my face
And something in me breaks.
His black hair catches the light in the way that makes his dark skin look look angelic,
And she squints through her laughter, dark brown eyes begging me to laugh back.
I love her.
He's the thing that holds me here,
The thing I live for, the thing I've waited for all my life, and I know I'm not good for her.
I know he'd be better with someone else,
I know that I'm suppressing his intelligence with my own stupidity,
I know that someone as wonderful as he is shouldn't belong to someone like me.
Maybe, though..
Maybe I'll get better before it's too late.
Maybe I'll become someone else, someone greater than myself, someone worthy of him.
Maybe there's still time.....
After all, he's only two.

Sins of the Father: Chapter 06
Unlike Sparrow, Avery came to be taken away from the city of Pandarum and its inhabitants resentment. Also unlike Sparrow, Avery grew up with a loving family.

Edel Avian, Dawn’s protégé and Avery’s quasi-brother, were both a special sub-division of knights known as medic-knights. Because of this Avery ended up having a fairly advanced vocabulary for his age, just from listening to his family talk, which included a large knowledge of swear-words picked up from his mother.

Growing up with family, parents naturally pass on what skills they have unto their children . Of course it wasn't until shortly after little Avery’s third birthdays that he actually learned what a medic-knight was.
“Mommy, what do we do for money?” A wide-eyed Avery inquired as his family began to walk to their next destination.
Looking down at her precious son, Dawn began to answer “Well Edel and I are Kni

With Avery taken safely out of  the city by his adopted family, Ameil only had to deal with the problem presented with the sole Semideus in the city of Pandarum.
Ameil looked down at the small bundle in her arms. 'Sparrow, what kind of life will you live?’ The aged Slayer wondered before frowning regretfully. 'Such a heavy burden should not fall on one so young."
Still lost in her thoughts Ameil looked out to the city before her.
'What an unbelievable amount of sacrifice made for the next generation to survive, huh Ace.' Not for the first time in the last few days, Ameil was struck by guilt and regret. Such a talented and promising man shouldn't have died at such a young age. Especially not when an old woman such as herself should have died in his place.
Shaking off the troubling thoughts, she looked down at Sparrow once again, sighing quietly in frustration while being careful not to awaken the sleeping child. It had been a difficult decision to inform the council of Sparro

The Ark
So the Earth had dried up.
What limited resources left would not sustain much longer. It was no surprise, people have seen it coming a hundred years ago. The world government had put together a last-ditch effort, and funded the conception of a spaceship named the Ark.
The team consisted of nearly half of the remaining population. They trained long and hard for many months, studying late into the night for survival and colonization, driven by the responsibility on their shoulders to find humans, their brethren another home. They were pioneers, they were heroes. They brought loved ones aboard, so that they may reproduce on the journey that will outlast them.
Captain looked out the window of the Ark. What a fine machine. He watched the hardened faces of his people load up the craft, commending each their bravery and their volunteer for the survival of the human race.
Today was the big day.
Of course, the Ark never made it out. Science never got that far, what a bunch of idiots to have bel
